In order to adjust our strategy and align our team with future goals we unfortunately had to make the challenging decision to reduce the size of our team. This decision will affect the team members equivalent to 1 team member. Affected personnel have been notified via personal and work email. This was not an easy decision and one that the leadership team and I have been wrestling with over the past few weeks. We went through a range of options but unfortunately none gave us the flexibility, focus and stability we needed to continue to achieve our ambitions. The situation is far from ideal but the steps we have chosen are necessary to ensure a healthy move forward. I'm assuming this question is why it's top of mind so I'd like to address it.
There are three main reasons why this action is needed: We scaled our teams too aggressively across commercial functions. We ended up with functional redundancies across departments. The current macroeconomic conditions forced us to refocus, making us a stronger, more focused team. The overall rapid growth in scale also created operational challenges which in turn resulted in our inability to be consistent in our execution. I hope none of this is news to you as you read this and that you have seen these inefficiencies no matter what role you are in. That being said I take full responsibility. I must do better as your CEO and I will. To the departing team members first and foremost thank you for everything you have done to help get to this point. While it is with great sadness that we have to part ways I am confident that each of you will excel in.
